Pastor Note for
September 2022
As I was reading in the evening the other night, I was suddenly struck by a great late summer symphony floating through the windows. This familiar annual tune announces the seasonal change about to take place. It is a lovely and serene sound, a symphony of wings that greets the ears and stirs the soul. Sometimes it dawns with a single and lonely player, hardly audible, then rising through the night to an incredible crescendo of such numbers and volume that the imagination can hardly contain it. So it is with nature’s miraculous orchestration progressing through the seasons, crickets being the soloists of these transitional days.
We have been blessed through the summer and the past year in the time we have shared and the decisions we have made. It is as if those talented outdoor players active during our evenings have crept into our church, our actions, our lives, and our hearts—a low, almost inaudible sound arising from within us. If you listen you can barely make it out, but it is there proclaiming the Spirit’s movement within this Church and the coming days and events which begin in this month. Like those blessed insects of outdoors, we have tuned our strings through the summer months. And now in the coming month as we meet, worship, and share together the song of community that shall arise will be to the glory of God. It rises with our excitement as we approach the resumption of activities within and of Christ Church (and the addition of new ones!) Alongside, we reunite in Christ through worship, education, and a commitment to growth in discipleship. As we connect in prayer and praise, sermon, and song, so our symphony of service to the Lord takes shape.
So may we, through this time, tune our spiritual lives and prepare to connect with others in opportunities in faith, love, and service together. Let us gather together in worship and education committing ourselves to God’s cause. And let us share with all the joy of being part of something amazing-coming home to a place where faith, family, and fellowship connect as we work together as a Reconciling and Affirming faith community which ‘seeks to make connections and offer opportunities in faith, love, and service.’
Yours in Christ,
