Pastor Note for Fall 2026

fall pastor note

Grace and peace to you in the name of the One who was, who is, and who will come again! I cannot believe that I am starting my 10th September in ministry at Christ Church. As I reflect back, it is difficult to recall the anticipation and anxiety of that first year in ministry here still new and yet to really form and forge important relationships. Now, with a decade serving through our shared experiences together, this faith community has become more than the church I serve but a family of which I am part.

I appreciate that only occurs with time and shared experiences. I also recognize that it can be intimidating to visit someplace new when you don’t know anyone and have yet to establish a shared history. Grateful for what the church and its people have given and continue to give us, I want to challenge each of us that know and feel this same way about Christ Church to reach out to someone and invite them to come home to church this fall with us. Give them a ride, sit with them in worship, and join them in fellowship. Help them not to see the church as an exclusive group, but as a welcoming family. I ask you alongside them to engage in opportunities in learning, outreach, and music to foster those shared experiences that build relationships. Find ways to connect in friendship and fellowship which encourage health and wholeness of body, mind, and spirit. Live the vision God has placed upon us – to make connections and offer opportunities in faith, love, and service.

So may this fall be a time of empowering, engaging, and embracing at Christ Church!

Yours in Christ,

Rev. Daven W. Oskvig
